Notorious don Deepal Manange, who was arrested from Kathmandu on Thursday, has been sent to Dillibazar prison to serve his sentence.

The convict had been absconding after the Supreme Court, in January, upheld the Patan Appellate Court’s verdict to put him in prison for five years for an attempted murder case.

A police team deployed by the Metropolitan Police Range had arrested Rajib Gurung aka Deepak Manange from Swayambhunath area.

Manange was elected as an independent candidate to a provincial assembly seat from Manang district.

He had several encounters with the law in the past. In its verdict on a 13-year-old case of gang war between Manange and his rival Milan Gurung aka Chakre, the Patan Appellate Court in 2012 had ruled the incident as an attempted murder case and sentenced him to five years in prison.
