Two panels vying for ECAN leadership

Educational Consultancies Association of Nepal (ECAN), an umbrella body of over 300 education consultancies, has geared up for its general convention where two panels are vying for the leadership for next two years.
Backed by a majority, former Chairpersons Bishnu Hari Pandey has filed his candidacy for the chairmanship of the Association while he is being challenged by Saroj Kumar Basnet who has the support of popular consultancies.
Devi Das Bhattarai, Khadga Limbu and Sapana Raj Bhandari are the aspirants for the vice-chair post from Pandey faction while Rajendra Rijal, Mahesh Babu Timalsina and Umesh Dhungel are contesting for the position from the rival faction.
Similarly, Khem Raj Bhattarai is vying for position from Pandey panel and Santosh Pyakurel is challenging him from the Basnet panel.
The convention to be held on Saturday will elect the new leadership. Both the factions have floated similar agendas for their leadership which ranges from developing education consultancy sector as a dignified field and providing professional support to the students aspiring to study abroad. They also have vowed to stop malpractice if there are any and finding new education destinations for students.
Every year thousands of students leave the country in search of better academic destinations and the trend is increasing significantly.
