Both artists have been resident artists at the Gallery this year.
Blackshaw, a DJ/producer and vocalist, primarily performs house music at clubs and sometimes in outdoor music festivals. Lately, he has switched to producing music designed for yoga and meditation sessions, and is currently into writing a blues-based record.
While Subedi, a musician and performance artist, is a noted didgeridoo player in Nepal. Subedi reminisces about his first encounter with didgeridoo: “How could a hollow piece of eucalyptus tree trunk produce such powerful earthy reverberation and resonance. It was not a machine. It was breath.”
During the event, both the artists talked about the inspirations that push them to creating music and have shaped their musical journeys.
The performance wrapped up the eighth edition of residencies at the Gallery.
