Man held for raping 2 minor girls in Rautahat

Police have arrested a man on charge of raping two minor girls in Rautahat district on Monday afternoon.

Ramesh Ram, of Gajura Municipality-8, Rautahat had allegedly raped the minors by luring them, victims’ family said.

Police have filed a rape case against Ram on Thursday and investigating into the case by keeping him in custody.

He had allegedly raped five and six-year-old girls in turn by taking them to a nearby a bamboo bush, police said. He tried to hide the incident by giving money to the girls.

The victims’ family went to Area Police Office, Chandranigahapur, to lodge a complaint against Ram after the little girls told them about the incident on Wednesday night. Ram was arrested based on the complaint filed by the family, DSP Shanti Raj Koirala said.

“We have sent the girls to a hospital for health check-up and started investigation against Ram,” said DSP Koirala, adding, “We will not leave the criminal. We will provide justice to the victims.”

The family of the victims had demanded stern action against Ram. Police said the health condition of the victims is normal.

In the past 10 months, ten incidents of rape were reported in the district.
