Nepal advance to semi-finals

Both the teams finished runners-up in the round robin league behind India. Pakistan and Sri Lanka also advanced to the last four as the third and fourth placed team in the five-team contest as Bhutan crashed out finishing at the bottom of the table. Nepal will take on Pakistan and India will play Sri Lanka in the semi-finals.
The girls’ event consisting of four teams saw Sri Lanka finish third and Bhutan fourth to advance to the semi-finals. Nepal will meet Sri Lanka in the last four while India will take on Bhutan. The finalists in both the categories will qualify for ITF Asia U-12 Team Tennis Championships to be held in Kazakhstan in November.
Nepali boys’ team beat Pakistan 2-1 in the fourth round robin league match. The hosts had defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 and lost 2-1 against India on Tuesday a day after drubbing Bhutan 3-0 on Monday. In the singles, Aki Zuben Rawat edged past Bilal Asim 6-2, 6-2 but Aarav Samrat Hada lost 6-2, 6-3 to Hamid Israr. In the doubles, the pair of Hada and Rawat saw off pair of Bilal and Muhammad Huzaifa Khan 6-0, 6-1.
The Nepali girls’ team hammered Bhutan 3-0 on Wednesday. Nepal had lost to India 3-0 on Monday before beating Pakistan 3-0 the following day. On Wednesday, Azaa Regmi beat Karma Yuden Dorji 6-1, 6-3 in singles match before her teammate Subhangee Laxmi Shah saw off Tenzin Wangsel Lhaden 6-1, 6-0. In the doubles, Shah and Aisha Dolkar Gurung registered a 6-1, 6-0 win over Dorji and Kuenga Palmo.
Indian boys’ team beat Sri Lanka and Bhutan both 3-0. In the singles, Harsha Fogaat and Vansh Nandal both won 6-0, 6-0. In the doubles, India won 6-3, 6-0. The Indian team crushed Bhutan registering 6-0, 6-0 win in all three matches—two singles and a doubles.
