The District Police Office, Morang on Sunday nabbed DSP Prajit KC in connection with the smuggling of the precious metal from Tribhuvan International Airport in January last year. DSP KC is in custody of Morang Police.
DSP KC and Sub-inspector Bal Krishna Sanjel were among the members of the team deployed by the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) to probe the murder of Sanam Shakya of Urlabari, Morang. Shakya, an alleged mule during the smuggling operation, is believed to have been brutally thrashed and electrocuted.
The KC-led team had visited Morang to probe the murder. After suspicion of foul play in the probe, DSP KC, SI Sanjel and MPCD chief SSP Diwash Lohani were recalled to the headquarters. DSP KC was in Biratnagar on Friday to testify before the Morang District Court.
