NC President Deuba has called a meeting of elected office bearers at 2pm today to appoint party officials to the vacant posts.
According to a source, Deuba is likely to appoint Bimalendra Nidhi as the Vice President, Purna Bahadur Khadka as the general secretary and Prakash Sharan Mahat as the joint - general secretary of the party.
As per the NC party statute, the party president proposes the appointment of the officials which must be endorsed by the party central working committee. Deuba has ample support at the elected working committee for the endorsement of his nominated officials.
Meanwhile, NC senior leader Poudel faction has warned of boycotting the meeting saying that party President Deuba is moving ahead against the agreement and provisions of the statute. However, the Poudel faction is facing a dilemma after General Secretary Shashank Koirala hinted that he won’t be skipping the meeting.
The Poudel faction has been arguing that the nominations should not take place until the suspension of certain provisions of the party statute.
