Visiting parliamentary delegation from the United Kingdom (UK) called on Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Barshaman Pun. During the meeting at the latter's office on Monday, matters relating to bilateral interests were discussed. 

The UK delegation headed by Nigel Evans arrived for Nepal visit at the invitation of the Federal Parliament of Nepal. 

Saying that the UK was the old development partner of Nepal, Minister Pun said he hoped to see cordial relations between the two countries in the future as well. "Support provided by the UK to Nepal's education, health and security sector holds a significant meaning," said the Minister's Secretariat. 

The Minister informed the delegation that the government was ready to cooperate with the UK in the areas of energy, water resources and irrigation. According to him, the Ministry plans to generate 10,000 megawatts of electricity within the next 10 years and support from the national and international forum is required for so. 

He briefed the delegation that Nepal has the capacity of producing 100 thousand mw of electricity. He took the time to call on the delegation for investment in Nepal, citing that investment-friendly atmosphere had been built in Nepal. 

On the occasion, the delegation members put queries about the Nepal government policies and plans concerning the hydropower, solar energy and water resources. 

Mr Evans said the UK government was ready to lending helping lands to Nepal's development endeavours. As he said, this type of bilateral visits would further increase in the future once the UK formally exited from the European Union, expressing his hope that the bilateral relations between the two countries would further consolidate in the days ahead.
