The delegation of British Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (BGIPU) is led by Nigel Evans.
Speaker Mahara, during the meeting, said the Nepal and Britain relations are not confined to political sphere but have reached up to the people. “The people-to-people contact has made the relations even stronger,” said Minister Mahara.
Saying that he is very happy to welcome the British parliamentarians, Speaker Mahara said he is confident that the visit of the UK delegation would be more fruitful in exchanging parliamentary experiences between the two countries. He said Britain’s parliamentary system and practice would be a lesson for Nepal as the federal governing system has begun in the country with the promulgation of new constitution.
According to a statement issued by House secretariat, Mahara hoped the legitimate demands raised by Gorkha soldiers serving in British Army would be addressed. At the meeting, BGIPU leader MP Nigel Evans said the relations between Britain and Nepal are cordial and strong.
