Armed Police thump NPC 3-0 to win fourth title

APF eased past Police 25-12, 25-19, 25-17 in the final to win first title of the year. The victory in the final fetched APF a cash purse of Rs 150,000 and winners’ trophy while Police walked away with Rs 100,000. New Diamond Academy won the third place honour after they registered a straight set win of 25-14, 25-16, 25-14 over Western Regional Volleyball Association. New Diamond received Rs 50,000. APF were the winners and New Diamond runners up in all last three editions.
Saraswati Chaudhary of APF won the best player award and received wrist watch worth Rs 30,000 in addition to a purse of Rs 10,000 sponsored by Greenland Center. Reshma Bhandari of the same team was honoured with special award and got similar reward as provided to Chaudhary.
Pratibha Mali of New Diamond Academy was named the best spiker and her teammate Salina Shrestha scooped best defender award. Lalita Nath of the same team won best quicker award. Manisha Chaudhary of NPC was declared the best blocker and her teammate Kamala Pun won best setter award. Usha Bista of APF was declared the best server. Gyanendra Bista of APF received the best coach award. Each of the individual award winners were given Rs 5000 each.
National Sports Council member secretary Keshab Kumar Bista, KNP Japan’s Nepal chief Manoj Mishra, Nepal Volleyball Association president Manoranjan Raman Sharma among other distributed prizes to the winners. The five-day event, organised by Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Foundation, featured six teams including Tribhuvan Army Club and Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Center.
