‘All chargesheeted people involved’

Their statements, recorded before Morang District Court, contradict those of former Deputy Inspector General Govinda Niraula and suspended Superintendent of Police Bikashraj Khanal, both of whom have denied their involvement in the case.
The District Attorney’s Office, Morang, has filed a chargesheet against 63 people in connection to the gold smuggling case and the subsequent murder of alleged gold runner, Sanam Shakya, on the charges of organised crime, hostage-taking and murder. The office has also recommended recovery of Rs 17 billion and an additional fine of Rs 18 million from the accused.
Based on the chargesheet, the District Court completed recording statements of 30 arrested suspects on Tuesday.
The trial is set to begin on Thursday.Thirty-three other people suspected in the case are still at large.
