Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Shashank Koirala has said that he will take the initiative to end factional politics within the party.

“One of the reasons behind the party’s electoral defeat is factional politics. The nearest and dearest ones were selected rather than good candidates based on merit while distributing party tickets.

“I will fight till the end to eliminate factional politics between members that is dogging the progress of Nepali Congress,” Koirala said addressing a party function in Hetauda on Wednesday.

He also said that the only way for the Nepali Congress to counter the merger between CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) is to sternghten the party organisation and persevere towards a common goal with unity. “The left alliance cannot put out a challenge to Nepali Congress prospects if we decide to end the factional feuds inside our party and act like a single, unified force, as it should be,” the NC general secretary said.
