Police, APF Club clinch volleyball titles

Kul Bahadur Thapa shone as NPC battled to a 25-21, 17-25, 30-28, 25-23 win over departmental archrivals Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) in the men’s final. APF denied NPC the clean sweep of the championships, winning the women’s final 25-9, 25-8, 25-20.
In the tournament organised by National Sports Council, Thapa was declared the best player in the men’s event while Saraswoti Chaudhary took the best player accolade in women’s event.
Province 4 finished third in the men’s event and TAC secured the third place in the women’s category on Tuesday. In the third place decider, Province 4 beat APF 25-20, 25-19, 25-19 while TAC defeated Province 5 in straight sets 25-19, 25-8, 25-9.
The champions in both male and female categories received Rs 350,000 each while the runners-up got Rs 200,000 apiece. Third-placed teams also earned Rs 100,000 each. Seven Provincial teams along with NPC, APF and Army were in fray for the title in both men’s and women’s championships.
