Narcotics Control Bureau of Nepal Police on Thursday made public two Indians arrested for smuggling banned pharmaceutical drugs.
The Bureau arrested Indian citizens Jitendra Kumar and Sanoj Kumar from Balkhu, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14 along with 1,500 ampoules of the drugs.
Police seized 500 ampoules of Dizepam, 500 ampoules of Norphene and 500 ampoules of Phenargan from them.
Physicians prescribe schedule drug Dizepam to treat anxiety, alcohol withdrawal syndrome, benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome, muscle spasms, seizures, trouble sleeping, and restless legs.
Norphene is used to treat cancer and by rehabilitation centres to treat drug addicts.
Physicians prescribe phenargan to treat allergy symptoms such as itching, runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, hives, and skin rashes. They duo smuggled the medical drugs into Kathmandu in a vehicle bearing Indian registration number plate.
