May 19, 2018-

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the Indian field office established in Biratnagar will be removed soon.

He said so while addressing a Parliamentary Party meeting of the newly formed Nepal Communist Party held at the Parliamentary Party office in New Baneshwor on Saturday afternoon.

Saying that the India has agreed to change the 1950 treaty, PM Oli, who is also the Chairman of Nepal Communist Party, said that the field office will be removed from Biratnagar.

In 2008, Nepal had permitted India to set up a temporary field office in Biratnagar as Nepal needed to use some parts of India to route its vehicles after floods in Koshi River severely damaged some parts of the East-West highway.

The Indian side had set up a temporary office in Biratnagar for the purpose. After repairing the highway, the Nepal government had requested the Indian side to remove the field office.
