Rautahat District Court convicted a ‘serial killer’ of all charges and sentenced him to 52 years in prison, slapped Rs 200,000 fine and ordered confiscation of his properties.
The single bench of District Judge Prakash Shrestha on Thursday found Balkishwor Chaurasiya, 25, of Katahariya Municipality guilty of abducting, raping and murdering three girls.
Police arrested Chaurasiya on August 24, 2016 on the charge of abducting a four-year-old girl from then Maryadapur Village Development Committee.
The convict raped the minor and then murdered her. Chaurasiya abducted the girl while she was asleep with her grandmother on August 23, 2016. Police recovered her body from Lalbakaiya River. Chaurasiya abducted, raped and murdered three girls within a span of a month before police arrested him.
Court Registrar Chintamani Sharma said the judge sentenced the convict to 17 years in prison and Rs 200,000 fine on abduction charge, 15 years on rape charge and life imprisonment (20 years) for murder.
The convict had abducted another four-year-old girl from Shivanagar on July 25, 2016. The minor was found in a local canal later. He also abducted, raped and murdered another minor at Sitalpur Bairgania on August 7, 2016. Chaurasiya.
