Five people died and 15 others were injured in two separate road accidents in West Nawalparasi and East Rukum districts in the past 24 hours.

Three persons died and another was injured when two motorcycles collided at Bardaghat, West Nawalparasi, on Saturday. The incident happened when two speeding motorcycles (Lu 10 Pa 4435 and Lu 37 Pa 1570) collided head-on along the Bardaghat-Tribeni road section.

According to the District Police Office, Santosh Neupane, 21, Abhishekh GC, 19, of Bardaghat-14 and Ajit Singh Thakuri of Bardaghat Municipality died in the incident. Dipendra GC, 24, of the same locality sustained serious injuries. He was taken to Butwal for treatment.

In East Rukum, two persons died while 14 others were injured, three critically, in a tractor accident at Bhume Rural Municipality-1 on Friday evening. Police identified the deceased as Ganesh Bhandari, 40, of Bhume-1 and Chudamani Chaudhary, 32, of Tulsipur-10 in Dang district. Bhandari died on the spot while Chaudhary breathed his last on the way to hospital.

The incident occurred while the vehicle (Ra 1 Ta 2261) was ferrying workers at the under-construction Mid-Hill Highway to their quarters. The injured are receiving treatment at the district hospital in Salle.
