Sub-inspector under probe in driving test bribery case

According to the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Sub-inspector Sriram Tiwari was arrested on Friday after he was found taking bribes to pass people in driving test without them having to take the actual test.
The CIAA has also arrested three employees of Transport Management Office in Ekantakuna, Lalitpur, in the same case. Kamal Syangtan, Hari Bahadur Thapa and Min Bahadur Tamang were taken into custody on Sunday.
CIAA Spokesperson Deergharaj Mainali said around 400 people had passed their driving test by bribing the four accused in the past one month alone. The anti-graft body has also arrested Gopal Chandra Lama, ward secretary of Tajakot Rural Municipality-5 in Humla district on charge of misappropriating Rs2.45 million in social security allowances.
