DFO duo Ghimire, Thakur recalled
Direct Forest Officer (DFO) Bhairab Prasad Ghimire has been recalled to Kathmandu for his alleged involvement in carrying out irregularities in the woods of Sahajnath Sajhedari Forest and other forests. The Ministry of Forest and Environment on Monday had decided to recall Ghimire and transfer Mishra to his post.
Mishra said that he will take the responsibility of the District Forest Office within a couple of days.
A task force led by Joint Secretary at the Ministry Chandra Man Dangol had found direct involvement of Bhairab Prasad Ghimire, Assistant Forest Office duo Amar Dev Prasad Yadav, Bindeshwor Prasad Patel and rangers in carrying out irregularities in the woods. The task force later submitted a report to the Ministry state that they should be removed immediately from the office.
They have been accused of carrying out irregularities in the woods worth Rs 20 million and helping the smugglers to smuggle woods from Nepal to India among others.
Sahajnath Sajhedari Forest Management Committee one-and-a-half month ago had drawn the attention of Minster for Forest and Environment Shakti Basnet to take action against the guilty.
Minister Basnet had expressed his commitment to take action against those involved in carrying out irregularities.
Meanwhile, Under Secretary Sambhu Tiwari has replaced Under Secretary and District Forest Officer Ram Bichari Thakur accused of carrying out irregularities in timber dealings.
