He said that it is just a continuity of the past.
Though the government had earlier showed the dreams of economic prosperity, there are no such programmes that would turn that dreams into reality, he said.
The former Prime Minister said that most of the budget would be expensed to run daily administrative activities. This would not take the country on the path of prosperity, he added.
The government should have increased the development budget but that was not done, Bhattarai lamanted.
As the country has already adopted federalism, the govenrment should have allocated budget more on province and local levels, he said.
Leader Bhattarai said that only 22/23 percent budget has been allocated to province and local levels. Hence, this budget is against the spirit of federalism.
There is no basis to achieve a double-digit economic growth as claimed by the government, he said.
“The budget has shattered the dreams of the people to see a prosperous nation,” Bhattarai said, adding, “There is no specific plan to curb corruption and syndicate and cartels seen in various sectors of the country.”
The budget has not addressed the issue of controlling revenue leakage, he said.
The government this afternoon unveiled the budget of Rs 1.31 trillion for fiscal year 2018-19 at the Federal-Parliament.
