ICC adds Nepal in ODI rankings

Nepal became the youngest Associate nation to attain the One-Day International (ODI status despite finishing eighth in the World Cup Qualifiers in March. The 10-team Qualifiers sent two teams into the 2019 World Cup and gave ODI status to three highly placed Associate teams except the Netherlands.
The Dutch had already guaranteed themselves a spot in the ODI rankings and the new 13-team ODI league structure after they claimed the last edition of the ICC World Cricket League Championship. Nepal, Scotland and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were the three teams to benefit from the Qualifiers. Nepal and the Netherlands will get into rankings once they play minimum four ODIs.
The West Indies and Afghanistan had made it to the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales through the Qualifiers. Scotland and the UAE are the 13th and 14th placed teams in the rankings that ICC published on Friday. England lead the table with 125 points ahead of India (122) and South Africa (113). Nepal will play their first ever ODI match against the Netherlands on August 1 in a two-match away series. The second is on August 3.
