The court started recording his statement shortly after he turned himself in to the court.
According to SP Manoj KC of the District Police Office, Morang, Ghale surrendered himself before the court at around 10 am today. He was on the most wanted list of Nepal Police.
Chudamani Upreti aka Gore, the alleged mastermind of the 33 kg gold smuggling case, while recording his statement, said that he was just a helper and revealed the name of Ghale as the leader of the gold smuggling racket.

Earlier on May 31, SSP Shyam Khatri, one of the suspects in the 33 kg gold smuggling case, had surrendered before the court.

The court recorded his statement the same day and remanded him in judicial custody.
Twenty-eight accused involved in the case have already been sent to the Regional Prison in Jhumka, Sunsari.
The District Attorney’s Office (DAO) had filed a charge sheet against 63 suspects recommending Rs 17 billion and Rs 18 million in fines as per the report prepared by a high-level committee formed to probe into the case.
