The departmental giants defeated well known opponents 25-14, 25-23, 25-19 to stamp their domination in women’s volleyball and claim third title of the year. They have earlier won Sher Bahadur Memorial Cup and Sabhamukh Cup titles. In the league rounds of the tournament, New Diamond had defeated APF 3-1.
The third place playoff match saw Nepal Police Club overcome Tribhuvan Army Clu 25-20, 25-23, 25-21. The victory in the final made APF richer by Rs 200,000 while the runners up
New Diamond received Rs 100,000. Three place finishers Police bagged Rs 50,000 and Army got Rs 25,000 as cash rewards.
Winner APF’s Saraswati Chaudhary was declared the-best-player and won Rs 25,000 for her feat. New Diamond dominated the individual award with Pratibha Malai (spiker), Aruna Shahi (server), Salina Shrestha (defender) and Kumar Rai (coach) winning the awards. Janaki Bhandari (setter) and Sofia Pun (blocker) of Army were other individual award winners. All of them received Rs 5000 each.
National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista, Rastriya Banijya Bank Nepal chief executive Kiran Kumar Shrestha among other distributed prizes to the winners.
