Govt considering slashing judges’ number: Law Minister

“There seems to be excess number of judges than needed,” said Minister Tamang during a programme organised by Sanchar Kendra on Sunday, “We are reviewing to slash the excess judges present in the judiciary.”
Minister Tamang was of the view that the court’s work would not be affected even though the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is working as an acting chief.
Likewise, Minister Tamang said that the process to appoint the Chief Justice is underway as per the constitution.
Similarly, the Law Minister further said that some judicial posts being vacant was not a major issue adding that he was more focused on the works of the sitting judges, whether they are performing well or not.
