Speaking to mediapersons at Bharatpur Airport on Tuesday, Dahal said, “There is a problem brewing in the media. Sometimes they tend to twist facts. Hence, the media itself should formulate a code of conduct.”
NCP Co Chairman Dahal made such remark following queries from journalists regarding reports of him meeting Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and directing the latter not to take action against his (Dahal’s) landlord, who is a contractor and has been accused of under-performing on several developmental projects.
Dahal, also a former Prime Minister, clarified that anyone failing to complete the works would face the music adding that he had not given any direction to Home Minister Thapa regarding the matter.
“That’s why I had said few days back that journalists themselves should make a code of conduct,” said Dahal, “The government has no intention to curb the press but the press must decide and formulate a code of conduct itself.”
