A woman was killed after being attacked by a wild elephant in Sunsari on Monday.
According to District Police Office DSP Narayan Chimoriya, Bhuniya Devi Chaudhary, 50, of Dholbajyank in Barah Municipality-9 died while undergoing treatment at Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences after she was seriously injured by the wild tusker.
The wild elephant has also destroyed the corns planted by the locals and the police suspect that it might have come from the nearby Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve.
