According to Tamudhi Korea and Kaski Pariwar Korea, Bal Bahadur Gurung, 32, of Pokhara Bajhpatan in Kaski district, who had gone to South Korea under the EPS scheme, jumped off an overhead bridge in Seoul at around 1am on Wednesday after learning that his status in the country had become illegal.
As per the provision, any migrant worker under the EPS system will be deemed illegal if one cannot find another workplace within three months of leaving the earlier job.
Gurung had gone to work in South Korea for the second term after completing his 4 years 10 months first term under the EPS.
His final rites will be done in South Korea as per the wishes of his wife and family.
