The local administration has directed the concerned authorities to shift the nearby settlements to a safe area following the rise in the water level of the river.
Chief District Officer Govinda Prasad Rijal, who was in the area to take stock of the situation on Monday, said that the flood had eroded about a metre of the embankment constructed at the Lalbakaiya River near the Inarba village in Boudhimai Municipality-2. He further informed that teams of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force are on the scene and Nepal Army personnel have also been summoned.
Meanwhile, the local administration has brought around 25,000 sand-filled sacks to secure the embankment prone to erosion.
Likewise, the administration has urged the locals living near Bagmati and Lalbakaiya rivers to remain vigilant.
