Ministry recalls Regmi over SEE results fiasco

The National Education Board had published the SEE results on June 23 without the marks for practical subjects of 9,064 students. This mistake came to light when the concerned students discovered that their GPA had increased a day after the results were out.
The National Examination Board had then formed a three-member committee, led by Joint Secretary Tulasi Thapaliya, to investigate into the case.
The committee concluded in its report that Regmi was responsible for the error.
“It was Controller Regmi’s carelessness that led to the error in the SEE results publication,” a senior official said of the ministry’s decision to recall Regmi. Soon after committee submitted its report, Education Minister Giriraj Mani Pokhrel had directed the officials to take action against Controller Regmi.
The report has also pointed finger at other OCE officials for the error. They too are likely to face action once the report has been studied in detail.
In his defence, Controller Regmi has said that the OCE had issued corrected mark sheets to the students after the error was discovered. The copies of mark sheets were also forwarded to the ministry for necessary investigation.
Joint Secretary Krishna Prasad Kapri, who heads the Curriculum Development Centre, has been deputed as the OCE controller in the place of Regmi until further notice.
