Expressing solidarity with Dr KC, a meeting of NC Parliamentary Party convened at Singha Durbar on Wednesday formed the committee including lawmaker Prakash Rasaili Snehi, Rangamati Shahi and Province Assembly member Din Bandhu Shrestha.
Senior orthopaedic surgeon at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), Dr KC has been staging his 15th hunger strike against the government’s bid to reverse the gains in medical education he had fought for. The anti-corruption crusader has already held several rounds of hunger strikes demanding various reforms in the country's medical education.
The meeting chaired by party leader Sher Bahadur Deuba also formed another three-member team to assess the health condition of Ganga Maya Adhikari, who has been staging hunger in Bir Hospital demanding justice for the murder of her son Krishna Adhikari. NC lawmaker Parbati DC Chaudhary, Amresh Kumar Singh, and Dev Prasad Timilsina are the members of the committee.
The party has taken serious exception to the government decision to ban protest and rallies at Maitighar. Saying that the decision has violated the people’s right to assemble peacefully and express their views, the NC was warned of defying the prohibitory orders if the government didn’t take back its decision.
The NC parliamentary party has also demanded the government to control the market price rise.
