The Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security on Monday organised a press meet to make the announcement on the recommendation of Minimum Wage Determination Committee. The minimum wage will be implemented from July 17, said Labour Minister Gokarna Bista.
In a meeting held on Sunday, the employer agreed to increase the monthly wage of Rs 12,500, proposed by them, to Rs 13,450. The trade union had lowered their demand of monthly salary to Rs 14,500 from Rs 17,000.
According to the government decision, the daily minimum wage will be Rs 517 and hourly minimum wage has been set at Rs 69. The government will soon finalise the minimum wage of tea garden workers and domestic worker.
