In a statement released after an intensive discussion on Tuesday, the association decided to halt medical services for an hour everyday in protest of the government’s apathy towards the demands put forth by Dr KC who has been staging an indefinite hunger strike for the past 11 days.
The association also warned of intensifying their protest that could lead to shutting down all services except emergency if the government fails to resolve the issue. “Beginning tomorrow [Wednesday], we will halt medical services and hold various protest programmes from 10-11am,” said NMA Chairman Dr Muktiram Shrestha. “If the government fails to come up with a solution we will extend the protest period and eventually shut down all services except emergency services.”
