Jul 12, 2018-
UML lawmaker Mahesh Basnet has demanded the government and police take action against those who made jokes of Bhaktapur floods with pictures of ships and boats.
Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Thursday, Basnet, a UML lawmaker from Bhaktapur-2, said posting funny flood-related pictures in social media was an insult to the people of Bhaktapur and demanded such people be booked under cybercrime. He also urged social media users to respect the feelings of those affected by the rain-triggered floods while posting on social media sites.
Basnet lauded the government agencies for conducting timely rescue operation in the flood-affected areas. “Personnel from Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force conducted rescue works since 3 am in the morning. This rescue works should be continued,” he said.
