- Post Report, Kathmandu

Jul 13, 2018-

The Supreme Court on Friday continued its interim order of July 6 that asked the government not to implement its decision to ban peaceful protests at public places including Maitighar Mandala.

A division bench of Justices Harikrishna Karki and Dambar Bahdur Shahi directed the Home Ministry to lift its decision on banning protests at public places.  The court has not annulled its interim order.

On July 6, the apex court had issued an interim order on the government decision regarding banning protests at public spaces.

Senior Advocate Dinesh Tripathi had filed a writ at the Supreme Court challenging the government decision to ban protests at public places. The writ argued that the decision restricting people from peaceful protests was in violation of the freedom of expression.
