Kantipur Media Group Chairman and Managing Director Kailash Sirohiya announced Wagle’s appointment as the chief editor amid a function at the KMG office in Thapathali, Kathmandu, on Friday. Wagle said he believes in team work and vowed to work alongside everyone in order to take the paper and Nepali journalism to the next level. “I practised journalism in this media house for long and stayed out for a while. I will apply the experience and skills I learned during the gap,” said Wagle.
Outgoing chief editor Sharma said he led the Kantipur newsroom as Wagle’s successor for a decade and that he was now happy to hand him the reins. “He [Wagle] is a capable and experienced leader,” said Sharma. “I am hopeful that Kantipur soars to new heights with his refined experience and qualification.” KMG Chief Executive Officer Sambhav Sirohiya, heads of departments and journalists attended the function.
