NC obstructs House meeting

The House of Representatives meeting has been postponed for 30 minutes after obstruction from Nepali Congress lawmakers.

The meeting which began at 1 pm was postponed after NC lawmakers obstructed the meeting as Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel was about to present the National Medical Education Bill.

Speaking at the start of the meeting, NC Chief Whip Min Bahadur Bishwakarma demanded the National Medical Education Bill be based as per the recommendations made by Kedar Bhakta Mathema-led task force. He also demanded government save the life of fasting Dr Govinda KC in Jumla.

NC lawmakers refused Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara repeated plea to take their seat. Nepal Communist Party (NCP) lawmakers Krishna Bhakta Pokharel and Khagaraj Adhikari said the approach adopted by NC lawmakers were against parliamentary standards.
