NC raising issues about speaker, deputy speaker unnecessary: PM Oli

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the opposition Nepali Congress raising fresh issues about House speaker and deputy speaker being from same party was unnecessary.

Speaking at a unity assembly of engineering associations in the Capital on Saturday, Oli said it was not appropriate for the party to raise such issues after not fielding any candidates to contest the speaker and deputy speaker elections.

“They didn’t contest the speaker and deputy speaker’s election. They could have fielded their candidtes. Now they are nagging about both posts being from the same party,” Oli said.

Oli also expressed his dissent about the opposition party obstructing House meetings. “Parliament runs as per the constitution and parliamentary rules. Few lawmakers standing from their seats won’t obstruct it,” Oli said. He claimed the House had the mandate from the people and it would now jump into action to complete its task.
