In yet another rescue operation, a joint team of Nepali Embassy and Indian Police on Tuesday rescued another lot of Nepali women held captive at Saketa, Igno Road in New Delhi. The team rescued two Indian and 16 Nepali women held captive by human trafficking racket in a small room on the pretext of sending them to Qatar and Kuwait.
The rescue happened on the very day when another lot of Nepali women, who were rescued last week from a house in Delhi, reached home. Last Tuesday, a joint team of Delhi Commission for Women, KI Nepal and Indian police personnel had rescued 16 Nepali women from a house in Munirka area of the Indian capital on Tuesday night.
Some of the girls were taken straight to Delhi from the bordering Nepali town Bhairahawa, while the others were taken via Banaras route. Two weeks ago, Nepali police personnel, officials of Nepali Embassy and local cops of Banaras, Uttarpradesh, had raided the possible area following a complaint that 150 Nepali women were held captive in Banaras for trafficking to a third country. It has been learnt that the joint team had return empty-handed as the women had already been moved.
After the failed attempt, Banaras police tipped that the women could have been taken to Delhi. Based on the information from Banaras police, the embassy officials and local police conducted a joint raid today.
The rescued women have been kept at the shelter of Delhi Commission for Women and will be sent to Kathmandu after completing necessary legal procedure, the Embassy said.
Earlier in the day, the Embassy sent the Nepali women rescued last week to Kathmandu by a regular flight of Nepal Airlines.
