Responding to questions raised by lawmakers at provincial assembly meeting on Tuesday, the provincial minister said the unfortunate incident happened due to the unnecessary activities of some boisterous group in the name of agitation. “We along with the chief district officer were looking for a peaceful solution, but we were not allowed to enter inside the academy premises,” he said. “I am sad about the damage that occurred at the hospital. I had stood before the court to establish this hospital. Today I am responding to lawmakers when the hospital was vandalised.”
Minister Bhandari blamed the boisterous group for the violent incident and said the glass of the vehicle carrying Dr KC was broken and five other vehicles were vandalised. He said the police were compelled to open fire in order to save Dr KC from the violent group.
In Thursday’s parliament meeting, Nepali Congress lawmaker from Jumla Dinbandhu Shrestha had asked the government why the police opened fire inside hospital premises in the presence of Minister. The central government had asked provincial government to cooperate in bringing Dr KC to Kathmandu from Karnali after his health started deteriorating.
