6 held with 200 kg marijuana in Makwanpur

Six persons have been arrested for possession of 203 kg marijuana from various places of Makwanpur district.

A joint police team deployed from the Narcotics Control Bureau and District Police Office, Makwanpur, arrested Padam Hamal Thakuri, of Pipal Bhanjyang, Tapli Rural Municiapality-1, Udayapur; Suresh Kumar Mahato, 35, of Dhangadhi Municiapality-3, Siraha; Chedi Das, 44, of Aurahi Rural Municipality-2, Siraha, and Krishna Bahadur Moktan, 42, of Raksirang Rural Municipality-1, Makwanpur, for possession of 88 kg marijuana from Kharanga, Manahari-9 of Makwanpur.

Police said the contraband was confiscated from the false bottom of a Bolero Jeep bearing Indian registration number plate BR IP 2345.

According to a preliminary investigation, Hamal is a marijuana smuggler, DSP Buddhi Raj Gurung of the District Police Office, Makwanpur said.

Similarly, jeep driver Chede Das was arrested time and again in the past with marijuana.

Likewise, two persons have been arrested with 115 kg marijuana from Hetauda-11 on Thursday.

The suspects have been identified as Dinesh Magar, 36, of Kamalmai Municipality-12, Sindhuli and Gyan Bahadur Budasaili, 31, of Bahrabise Municipality-7.

The contraband was seized from the false bottom of a bus (Na 3 Cha 4762).

All the suspects were made public by organising a press conference at the District Police Office, Makwanpur today.
