The retired staffers resort to the protest saying that the Sajha Prakashan failed to live up to its promise of providing all facilities to the staffers opting voluntary retirement after 20 years of service. The agitated former staffers have been staging demonstration for the past five days. Around 128 staffers across the country have been taking part in the demonstration.
“We trusted the decision as litterateur and politician duo Pradeep Nepal and Dinnath Sharma were involved in it. So we opt for voluntary retirement on the condition of getting the retirement cash according to the rule,” read a statement issued by the laid off staffers. “But we haven’t received the cash as we were promised.”
The government has provided only minimum cash and has been turning a blind eye to our repeated demand.
In a statement issued on May 4, 2018, Sajha Prakashan Chairman and Managing Director had pledged to pay the retirement benefits to all the retired staffers by July 17, 2018.
Two years ago, the Sajha Prakashan Board of Directors had appealed for voluntary retirement to its staffers who had served for 20 years.
