Arrested Chand-Maoist leader Bishwakarma’s son files habeas corpus petition

The Home Ministry, Home Minister, Kathmandu District Court, Police Headquarters and Metropolitan Police Circle Kathmandu and its chief have been made the defendants in the petition filed by Narendra Bahadur Singh, the son of arrested Chand-led CPN spokesperson.
Narendra, in his petition, has claimed that the authorities have not allowed Bishwakarma to take his medicines, displayed unpleasant behaviour by handcuffing him and are physically and mentally torturing him by blindfolding.
The petitioner has claimed that Bishwakarma was arrested as a result of political prejudice on the orders of Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa.
A police team had apprehended Bishwokarma from Dakshinkali on August 7 accusing him of disturbing peace in the society and indulging in extortion.
