Stop spreading rumours on civil codes, warns PM Oli

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on everyone to desist from making misleading publicity regarding the Country Civil Code and the Country Criminal Code that come into force from Friday.
The Prime Minister said this in his speech to welcome new members of the Communist Party of Nepal at the party’s central office in Dhumrabarahi, Kathmandu on Thursday.
The PM and CPN Chairman Oli said, “A lot of misleading information circulates on the implementation codes. Parliament passed these laws last year after extensive discussion.”
He warned against spreading rumours about both the codes such as ‘doctors would face to life imprisonment if a patient dies in course of treatment in hospital’.
The PM said people take time to adapt to new laws. He assured there are no provisions in the codes that would affect people negatively.
The government strives to give impetus to development and construction work, raise living standards of poor, for social security, to maintain peace and national unity as per the constitution, he said and urged citizens not to create disturbances in the country. “The government is not confused; the country is not confused; the people are not confused. Maybe the opposition party has a false impression that we are confused.
The government has consistently worked for the welfare of the country and the people,” Oli said.
Welcoming the new members to the party, he said they would further help to take the party to a new high with the give responsibility given to them. On the occasion, NCP co-Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal said the government works for development and prosperity as per the campaign ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’.
