Bishwokarma, who was earlier arrested on extortion charges was released by the Supreme Court on Friday, was again arrested from the premises of Kathmandu District Court on charge of setting fire to Namobuddha-6-based crusher industry. The arrested CPN spokesperson was then brought to District Police Office, Kavre.
Earlier, the police had arrested CPN politburo members Krishna Gambhir and Mohan Karki for the same crime.
Police had arrested Bishwokarma, along with two other part leaders Harish Chandra Acharya of Kalikot and Man Bahadur Shrestha of Kapilvastu, from Dakshinkali area in Kathmandu on August 7 for their alleged involvement in extortion.
On August 14, the apex court had ordered the authorities to present Bishwokarma before the court within 48 hours following a habeas corpus writ filed by his son. The apex court had then ordered the authorities to free Bishwokarma on Friday afternoon, citing that police had detained him without following standard procedure.
