A security guard was found murdered at a hardware store in Biratnagar Metropolitan City-2, Morang, on Sunday morning.

Police said the body of 48-year-old Tanka Prasad Bhattarai, a resident of Biratnagar-4, was found at the store owned by Nirab Kumar Agrawal.

Bhattarai was on security duty of the store on Saturday night.

His family suspects that he might have been murdered over a recent strike staged by the store’s employees demanding raise. They also accused Agrawal of not informing them about the incident on time.

“I called the hardware shop to inquire on my father as he had not come home after his duty hours. We were first told that he was unconscious, and it was only later that they informed us of his passing,” said Nabina, Bhattarai’s daughter.

The Bhattarai family did not allow police to collect the body for two hours, demanding investigation into the incident and appropriate compensation.

The body was later taken to Koshi Zonal Hospital to do post-mortem as per procedural norms.
