Recalled Kanchanpur SP Bista suspended

Home Ministry has directed Police Headquarters to suspend Superintendent (SP) Dilliraj Bista, who was recalled from Kanchanpur following a rape and murder of 13-year-old Nirmala Pant.

Ministry Spokesperson Ram Krishna Subedi informed Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa directed to suspend SP Bista until the investigation into the rape case was concluded. SP Bista was recalled to police headquarters after he was dragged into controversy in the rape case.

The ministry has also directed to take action against DSP Gyan Bahadur Shetty, also recalled with Bista, and Inspector Ekendra Khadka at Police Headquarters.

Police had unveiled a fake suspect claiming him to be the prime suspect of the murder case. locals then intensified their protests accusing the police administration of trying to protect the perpetrator by parading a fake suspect.

The body of Nirmala, 13, was found in a sugarcane field in Bhimdutta Municipality-18 on July 27, a day after she was reported missing. Autopsy report showed that the teenager had been raped and strangulated to death.
