Gyan Earthmovers, the authorised distributor of SWM, an Italian bike brand, will be officially launching SWM motorcycles for the first time in the country at NADA Auto Show 2018. The company will be launching three models: Silver Vast, RS 300 R and Super Dual 650.
The Silver Vast is SWM’s take on the classic scrambler while the RS 300 R will be targeted at enduro riders. The biggest bike in SWM’s Nepal debut will be the Super Dual 650, an adventure tourer.
According to Dipesh Shrestha, director at SWM Motorcycles in Nepal, SWM bikes have racing DNA in their makeup and will offer rock solid performance and durability. Prices of SWM bikes are expected to start from Rs1.4 million all the way to Rs2.3 million, said Shrestha.
MV Dugar, the authorised distributor of Royal Enfield in Nepal, will be launching the all new Thunderbird X and an updated Classic 350 in gunmetal grey colour. The Thunderbird X is Royal Enfield’s first bike that comes with alloy wheels and tubeless tires as stock and will be available in different colours, said Rudra Jung Shah, sales manager at Royal Enfield. The company is also refreshing the Classic 350—one of their best selling models—with an attractive gunmetal grey paint scheme and rear disc brake. Shah revealed that the number of pre-launch queries for the new bikes were promising even though pricing for the new models are yet to be fixed.
IME Automotives, the authorised distributor of UM bikes in Nepal, will be launching two new bikes—the Adventure TT 125cc dirt bike and XTREET Z 200 naked sports bike—at the NADA Auto Show. XTREET Z 200 features mono-shock suspension, powerful front disc brake, ergonomic double layer seat, said Samit Singh, marketing manager of IME Automotives.
Meanwhile, domestic automobile dealers for four wheelers are also gearing up for new vehicle launches at the NADA Auto Show 2018. Agni Incorporated, the authorised distributor of Mahindra, will be launching two new models of Mahindra Scorpio Pickup—S6 and S10. The price for the S6 model has been fixed at Rs3.79 million while the S10 is priced at Rs4.55 million. According to the company, the vehicle comes with 140 HP mated to a six-speed transmission. Similarly, the company recently launched the all new XUV 500 with a starting price of Rs6.18 million.
Similarly, Sipradi, the authorised distributor of Tata Motors in Nepal, will be launching Tata Nexon AMT (Automatic Manual Transmission) at the NADA Auto Show 2018. The company will also be showcasing their Tata Tigor electric vehicle at the exhibition. According to the company, Tata Nexon features 209mm ground clearance, three driving mode options, smart key and an engine that produces 110ps and 260mm of torque. The price of the Tata Nexon is estimated to cost Rs4.5 million to Rs4.8 million.
While most companies are preparing to launch new models or refreshing existing models, Continental Trading Enterprises, the authorised distributor of Kia Motors in Nepal, is planning to showcase only existing vehicles in their product porfolio.
According to Prasiddha Khadka, senior marketing officer of Kia Motors, the market for electric vehicles has been growing in recent years, with the company selling 77 units of Kia Soul electric vehicle in just two years, he said.
The company has already installed charging stations for its electric vehicles (EV) at Riverside Resort at Mugling and has been installing electric charging stations at different places. Similarly, the company has been providing after-sales services especially for its EVs, he said.
