NADA Auto Show kicks off
Sep 12, 2018-
The 13th iteration of the Nepal Automobile Dealers’ Association (NADA) Auto Show, Nepal’s biggest automobile exhibition, started at the Exhibition Hall in Bhrikuti Mandap on Tuesday. The six-day expo, jointly organised by NADA and Global Exposition and Management Services, will showcase the latest four-wheeler and two-wheeler models in Nepal.
Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada, who inaugurated the auto show, said that the budget for the new fiscal year will start making impacts on the automobile industry within the near future and urged patience from stakeholders regarding the recent tax adjustments.
“The government has prioritised the assembling industry, environment-friendly vehicle and mass transportation,” Khatiwada said. “But it needs support from the automobile industry.”
Shambhu Pradhan, NADA president, stated that the automobile sector is among the highest contributors of income tax in the country, contributing 17 percent in total revenue and 20 percent in total tax revenue. “The overall automobile sector contributed in revenue collection of Rs 100.5 billion in the 2017-18 fiscal year,” said Dahal.
The 2018 NADA Auto Show includes showcases from 19 four-wheeler and 20 two-wheeler brands, alongside 135 stalls featuring a range of products and service. This auto show, however, doesn’t feature heavy commercial vehicles due to a lack of space. Addressing this issue, Dahal urged a provision of 200 ropanis of land from the government for the yearly show. (PR)
