Permits of 51 Kalimati veggie traders cancelled

The Kalimati Fruits and Vegetable Market Development Board (KFVMDB) has cancelled the licences of 51 traders operating stalls at the country’s largest farm products market.

A meeting of the board held on Tuesday made the decision to this effect.

Earlier, the board had cancelled the licences of six traders.

With this, the board has cancelled the licences of 57 traders out of 98 which were in the red list.

The board had sought clarification from the traders following complaints that they had been renting their stalls to others by taking hefty amount.

In the initial phase, among the traders who were asked clarification, a meeting of the board held on September 4 cancelled the lincences of six traders effective from September 17 after they failed to submit satisfactory explanations

According to Tej Bahadur Subedi, spokesperson at the Ministry of Agricultural Development, 25 traders were given clean chit and 16 have been acquitted with a condition to correct their mistakes.

He said that the board will start removing the stalls from Wednesday.
