Veep Pun encourges Nepali students in China to excel

Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun on Saturday encouraged Nepali students enrolled in Sichuan University of Science and Engineering to excel in their studies and do ‘Nepal proud’.
Vice President Pun is currently visiting the People’s Republic of China. This morning he visited Yibin region of Sichuan Province.
The Vice President observed various universities and a cellphone manufacturing company during his visit to Yibin.
When Vice President Pun arrived at the Sichuan University, Nepali students received him and interacted with him. He encouraged them to make Nepal proud by excelling in their studies, the Vice President’s press coordinator Manoj Gharti said.
Yibin City Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in his interaction with the Vice President mentioned that Nepali students at Sichuan University were doing well and wished them every success, Gharti said.
Some Nepali students said they were studying diligently to achieve good results. International Students’ Association of Sichuan University President Suraj said in the interaction with the Vice President that Nepali students were faring well in their studies.
The Vice President also visited and toured Dove Mobile and the Ligo Mobile Production Company in Lingang Economic Zone.
He visited the Yibin harbour on the Yangtze River, the longest river of China. He also observed the private residence of Liang Xisang, considered the father of modern building design in China.
Yibin has sister city links with Pokhara, established on September 17. It is also known as the city of ‘liquor and bamboo’. Spread over 13,283 square kilometers, it occupies the southeast area of Sichuan province at the southern
end of the Sichuan Basin, bordering Zhaotong (Yunnan) to the south.
Yibin city’s population, according to the last census in 2010, was 549,700, or 0.041 per cent of China’s total
population.
The city’s industry focuses on electronics, food products, and power generation. It also produces paper, silk, and leather products.
